Lake Atitlán, set in Guatemala’s highlands and surrounded by volcanoes, is one of the most stunning lakes in the world. Formed by a volcanic eruption thousands of years ago, it’s a place rich in natural beauty and Mayan culture. We didn’t get to stay long, but its peaceful waters made us wish we had more time there. It’s definitely a spot that needs revisiting.
We stayed in the Free Cerveza Hostel, where they had breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with various different activities such as kayaking, paddleboarding, morning yoga, beer pong, morning hikes, and free beer if you’re into that (mom if you’re reading this no I didn’t drink the beer). It definitely felt like you were part of a community when you were there, but there are many MANY hotels and hostels all over the lake.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to take many pictures at the lake since we were occupied with the large variety of activities the lake and its surrounding areas had to offer, but there are still a few!
